"We've Called the Police"
Due process denied. A contentious board vote. Teachers picket and take their noisy protest inside the building. Office doors are locked against them. The police are called.
Just another labor action? Though the tactics are familiar, the target was unusual. This protest was at the headquarters of the Teachers Association of Long Beach in California.

There is so much more to this story...I'm a member of this organization...The bottom line is Scott McVarish(fired Executive Director who continues to act as Executive Director) thinks he is accountable to no one. He has successfully "charmed" about 100 teachers into believing that without him, we are doomed as teachers. Most teachers are truly dedicated to their profession and most do not get involved with the association until they need "help". Scott has proven to me by his behavior in Finance Committee Meetings that he does not respect teachers and has refused to be accountable regarding our dues which are currently at $101.20 per pay period. Our general membership needs to wake up and take back our association because we are being held "hostage" by Scott McVarish.
