NEA/CTA Contributions to California Initiatives Exceed $11.5 Million

The California Secretary of State’s office has finally fixed all parts of its campaign finance database. Looking over updated numbers from the California Teachers Association Issues PAC and the National Education Association, we learn NEA indeed contributed $3 million so far to support the budget initiatives, and CTA added $8,553,760.40 to various special election campaign committees (as of last Friday), for a total of more than $11.5 million.

With two weeks to go, I think it’s a safe bet that CTA will max out its $12 million authorization. The NEA board of directors met last weekend. I haven’t heard yet whether they authorized additional funds for California, but I’ll know soon.

I don’t care how much they drop on these initiatives, as long as at least the first three fail!
