Pot and Kettle Partisanship

The Lincoln Journal Star ran a puff piece about Randall Moody, who is returning to Nebraska after retiring as NEA’s chief DC lobbyist. The paper leads with this quote from Moody:

“Washington became a lot more partisan during my 10 years at NEA.”

It’s clear from the context that Moody is lamenting this fact, not taking credit for it. But it’s hard to take him seriously. NEA is well-known for funding politicians at a greater than 9:1 Democrat/Republican ratio, with a lot of that GOP money going to primaries. It provides an outsized share of delegates to the Democratic National Convention. Moody himself has received some notoriety for being a registered Republican, but that’s only because the phenomenon is so rare — perhaps unique, since I have no recollection of any other high-ranking NEA officer or employee outing himself as a Republican.

Although I have to admit that an effective way to eliminate partisanship is to ensure only one party rules.
