Timeline:

* Stand for Children Massachusetts proposes a ballot question that would largely eliminate seniority as the primary factor in teacher retention.

* The organization reaches compromise language with the Massachusetts Teachers Association on seniority legislation.

* AFT Massachusetts and the state AFL-CIO go ballistic.

* They acquiesce, because the bill is a “done deal,” passing the state senate on Thursday.
