Last month the National Staff Organization, the umbrella group of staff unions that represent the employees of National Education Association state affiliates, voted to sanction the Tennessee Education Association and the Oregon Education Association for anti-union behavior.
The organization has now added the Virginia Education Association to the list, and has warned MEA-MFT (Montana) that it may face the same consequences.
The Virginia Education Association drew NSO’s ire for laying off staff, then adding a new management position (wonder where they got that idea?).
“NSO maintains that the Virginia Education Association is no longer a place where NSO members should seek employment because management has created a hostile working environment,” said NSO President Chuck Agerstrand.
As for Montana, Agerstrand told the union’s executives “your actions imply that you consider your employees to be enemies rather than partners.”
