A listening post monitoring public education and teachers’ unions.

Which Side Are You On?

Written By: Mike Antonucci - Jun• 24•14

The Association of Field Service Employees (AFSE) is upset that its contract has expired, and management has been slow to come to an agreement on a new one. This wouldn’t be all that unusual, except management is the National Education Association and AFSE is one of the unions representing staffers.

Last week AFSE held a rally and informational picket in and outside of NEA headquarters in Washington, DC. Other unions sent representatives to walk the line. Here are a couple of photos.

AFSE2

It is very likely that the two sides will reach a settlement before anything too embarrassing occurs, but it wouldn’t be unprecedented for AFSE to go on strike. It did so in 1987.
