Tomorrow afternoon, delegates to the National Education Association Representative Assembly will debate and vote on the following resolution:

New H. The Role of the Press in a Democracy

The National Education Association believes that a strong and independent press is vital for a fully functioning democracy. Limits on access to information, threats to individual journalists or news outlets,
and coercion by elected officials or businesses cannot be tolerated. The Association also believes that open information laws must be vigorously enforced and that First Amendment rights of the press must be zealously protected.
